Schaefer Ambulance Service operated over seventy fully-equipped ambulances throughout Southern California. With hundreds of highly-trained and certified emergency medical technicians (EMT), paramedics and nurses, Schaefer Ambulance Service provided both emergency and non-emergency medical transport service, as well as standby service at special events.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) AMBULANCE
- Basic Life Support ambulances are staffed by two Emergency Medical Technicians(EMT). EMTs are trained in airway management and can administer oxygen, preform CPR, monitor non-medicated IV infusions, obtain basic diagnostic signs and maintain specialty immobilization devices.
ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (ALS) PARAMEDIC AMBULANCE
- The unit is staffed by two Paramedics who are qualified to render advanced life support to patients, under the directions of a hospital base station. In addition to EMT skills Paramedics are trained in monitoring and administering approved medications, monitoring 12 lead electrocardiograms, and trained to provide oral intubation.
CRITICAL CARE TRANSPORT (CCT)
- Two specially trained EMT's and a registered CCU-ER-ICU nurse transport a medical patient in accordance with the standing orders of the patient's physician.
NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (NICU)
- Two EMT's provide transport of a premature or distressed newborn and a team of medical personnel.
